    The Animals

In Compliance with the SCHS Adoption Agreement this policy allows the South Coast Humane Society Adoption Programs to add follow-up visits within a two (2) week period after placement of an animal. Telephone visits are acceptable for first time contact; physical visits only when deemed necessary by adoption chairperson or designee.

Pet owners are provided with a "Welcome Pet Pack" kit. SCHS adoption chairpersons will review the information kit with each new pet owner. The kit also includes licensing information.

Each new owner is taught the importance of vaccinations and follow-up visits to the veterinarian's office.

New pet owners are informed about SCHS and the programs we offer. Fundraising, the new shelter, and support of the community are discussed. Each new owner is extended an invitation to attend our meetings.

If a violation of the Adoption Agreement is noted by any follow-up visit volunteer(s), all pertinent information will be documented in writing and provided to the adoption chairperson.
